“I know once people get connected to real food, they never change back.” — Alice Waters
One of Mudgee’s best-kept food secrets is moving into regular dinner service—and believe us, it’s an experience you don’t want to miss.
Food and Farm Dining has primarily operated for breakfast and lunch from the Parkview Hotel Courtyard. However, after obtaining their liquor license in late 2025, they have started to offer dinner and pull back on breakfast service. It’s a savvy move because this local dining spot offers something you can’t teach or renovate: heart.
Housed within the vine-covered courtyard is a simple, small kitchen, but what Chef Karren sends out is honest, delicious food. Share plates are driven by what is in season, and each bite is an absolute delight. Expect a small, carefully curated menu of wonderful paddock-to-plate flavours.
Chargrilled peaches with buffalo mozzarella, rocket, and prosciutto with a pomegranate dressing feature alongside signature dishes such as beef carpaccio with truffle paste and fried capers. Prawn mousse ravioli with a saffron cream sauce pairs beautifully with a simple rocket, pear, and parmesan salad. The dishes complement each other perfectly, and with options ranging from small to large shares, you can try a little of everything or a lot of something.
Everything is made with care, like the 10-hour roasted lamb shoulder that falls off the bone, or the fig and onion tart with gorgonzola.

What is so charming about this spot is that it is unpretentious. The service is warm and friendly, and front-of-house lead Briana is engaging, offering great insight into the menu. Chef Karren often pops out to chat with guests, and the lights hanging in the vines create a lovely atmosphere to relax with a newly released bottle of Logan Marsanne or any of the other carefully selected options (Karren is also a sommelier).
In an industry and era where so much food feels performative and reaches to be ‘elevated,’ Food and Farm Dining offers the antidote: confident, well-executed, gorgeous food at a fair price point in a magical setting.
Getting There & Booking Located just a short walk from the CBD and directly opposite Roberston park, Food and Farm Dining is easily accessible for a casual stroll into town. However, as word spreads about their evening service, tables are filling up fast. We highly recommend securing your dinner reservation early to ensure you don’t miss out.
Bonus: Food and Farm Dining is pet friendly, so if you’re visiting with your fur baby they are welcome in the courtyard. While you enjoy your affogato, your doggo can enjoy a pup-cup.
Want to make a night of it? You can also book a stay at The Parkview Hotel – which offers a range of accommodation including a fully accessible suite. There is nothing quite like the luxury of enjoying a beautiful meal and wine under the vines, then simply retreating to your room just steps away.
